How do you say years in Portuguese?

Portuguese strings every place-value of a number together with e (and). The year 1975 is mil novecentos e setenta e cinco, one thousand and nine hundred and seventy and five. The same rule applies to 2024 (dois mil e vinte e quatro) and to dates like 9 de fevereiro de 1975. Spanish often drops the y between hundreds and tens (mil novecientos setenta y cinco); English drops and almost everywhere except after hundred (nineteen seventy-five). Portuguese keeps every connector, which makes Portuguese numbers sound longer and more spelled-out than their Romance neighbors. Brazilian and European Portuguese share this rule.
