Obras en el Bernabéu y el Camp Nou
A2 Spanish تدريب على الاستماع · إسبانية إسبانيا · مختار للمبتدئين
What does “va para largo” mean in Spanish?
The host says the Bernabéu is nearly done, but the Camp Nou work is just starting “y esta, va para largo.” He is not giving a date here — he is warning you that this one will drag on for a long time. Right after, he adds it should be ready around 2026. So when you hear “va para largo,” picture something slow that has no quick end in sight.
Spoken line: “...comienza la del Camp Nou... y esta, va para largo.” (“...the Camp Nou work begins... and this one is going to take a long time.”) “Va para largo” is a set phrase. It does not talk about distance — “largo” here means a long time, not a long road. You say it when something will clearly drag on. More examples: - “El juicio va para largo.” — The trial is going to take a long time. - “Esto va para largo, mejor siéntate.” — This will take a while, better sit down. - “La obra va para largo.” — The building work won’t be done soon. Usage notes: It often carries a slight sigh, like you wish it were faster. You can stretch it for emphasis: “esto va para muy largo.” The opposite idea is “esto es rápido” or “esto se acaba enseguida.”
