Flanders has two never-ending soaps, watched in tandem by half the country: *Familie (VTM, since 1991) and Thuis (Eén, since 1995). Both run nightly, both follow extended families through ordinary-and-overheated drama, and both have outlived multiple generations of cast. Familie is the older and slightly trashier; Thuis the slightly more public-broadcaster-prestige one.
