What does “Januarsyndrom” mean in German?
Clara talks about a feeling everyone knows: you begin the new year full of energy, then after a few weeks the motivation is gone. She gives it a name — das Januarsyndrom — and compares it to New Year gym plans: in January the gyms are packed, in February half empty. It is a light, slightly ironic word for a very human habit, and it fits just as well when you are learning German.
