The Flemish quiz show that’s run since 2003 — Belgium’s national prime-time obsession
For 20+ years, Flemish prime-time has revolved around De Slimste Mens ter Wereld (“The Smartest Person in the World”). Three contestants face down trivia rounds hosted by Erik Van Looy, racing the clock with one-liners. The famous galerij round shows photos of items in a category and asks for as many names as you can list in a set time. The Dutch RTL version ran from 2013, but the original Flemish one is the gold standard, watched and live-tweeted across the country every season.
In this galerij clip, Duco rattles off bread types: “Witbrood, tijgerbrood, suikerbrood. Maïsbrood, haverbrood, havervlokkenbrood, zuurdesem...” Eight species of brood in one breath.
