What does “kockázik” mean in Hungarian?

Everything in Hungarian games of chance grows from one word: kocka, a cube or die. Roll it and you kockázik, “play dice.” Add a causative twist and you get kockáztat — “to risk, to stake, to gamble.” So a Hungarian who is taking a chance is, quite literally, “throwing the dice.” The same cube also names the pixel-block square and, in slang, a nerd (“kocka”).

The clip is a wolf-and-rabbit dice joke: whatever number the rabbit rolls, the wolf says “megeszlek” — “I’ll eat you” — except on a six, which earns “akkor újra dobhatsz,” “then you may throw again.” Useful neighbours: kockacukor (sugar cube), kockás (checked/squared, as in graph paper), and reszkíroz, a casual borrowed synonym for kockáztat.
