What does “bûcheron” mean in French?

A bûche is a log, and -eron turns it into the person who works with it: un bûcheron, a woodcutter. That suffix is a reliable French job-maker — forge gives forgeron (blacksmith), vigne gives vigneron (winegrower). Spot the base noun and you can usually guess the trade without ever having met the word before.
