What is MBC in Arab media?

إم بي سي (MBC), the Middle East Broadcasting Center, is the Saudi-owned satellite network that dominates pan-Arab television. It launched in London in 1991 as the first private free-to-air Arabic satellite channel, then moved its headquarters to Dubai Media City in 2002 and finally to Riyadh in 2023. MBC carries reality TV (Arab Idol, The Voice Arabia), Turkish dramas dubbed into Arabic, religious programming for Ramadan, and big-prize game shows. The network reaches more than 130 million Arabic-speaking viewers across the Middle East and North Africa.
