What does “fi aman Allah” mean?
في أمان الله (fi amān Allāh) literally means “in God’s safety” and works as a common Arabic farewell. Speakers often pair it with مع السلامة (maʿa as-salāma), “with safety.” Together, the phrases make goodbye feel less like ending a call and more like wishing someone protection.
Arabic everyday speech often keeps religious language in ordinary moments: greetings, thanks, promises, and farewells. For learners, fi amān Allāh matters because it may sound formal in translation, but in Arabic it can feel warm, familiar, and routine. In this clip, Grandma Asmaa signs off with “مع السلامة وفي أمان الله” (“goodbye, and in God’s safekeeping”).
