What is “drugie śniadanie” in Poland?

Poland officially has second breakfast. Drugie śniadanie — literally “second breakfast” — is the mid-morning meal eaten at work or school, usually a sandwich and a piece of fruit brought from home. It’s not a snack with a nickname; it’s a fixed slot in the Polish day, sitting between śniadanie (breakfast) and the early-afternoon obiad (dinner, the main hot meal).
