Ordering Drinks At A British Pub
A2 English تدريب على الاستماع · الإنجليزية البريطانية · مختار للمبتدئين
What flavor are British “cheese and onion crisps”?
In Britain, crisps are what Americans call “potato chips,” and the most-bought flavor is cheese and onion. The yellow-and-green packet sits next to ready salted (plain) and salt and vinegar at every British pub, corner shop, and supermarket. Walkers, the biggest British crisp brand, sells more cheese and onion than any other flavor. American chip aisles default to plain, BBQ, or sour cream and onion; cheese and onion barely shows up. The difference is one of the easiest food markers between British and American snack culture.
In this clip, a customer at a British pub orders two pints of lager and “a packet of crisps. Cheese and onion.” The pub-and-crisps combo is a British classic.
