What does “dame acá” mean in Spanish?

Dame acá is the phrase for demanding something into your hand: “give it here.” Grammatically it’s odd — acá means “over here,” so the sentence is literally “give me to-here,” with the it left out entirely — but it’s a fixed expression every Spanish-speaking parent, sibling and toddler uses while pointing at the thing they want. Trae acá (“bring it here”) works the same way.

Dame.” Note acá itself: Latin America uses it constantly where Spain prefers aquí, especially with motion.
