What is the difference between “encantado” and “encantada” in Spanish?

Encantado / encantada is a polite way to say “nice to meet you” when you are introduced to someone. It literally means “delighted.” The twist for beginners: the ending changes with the speaker’s gender. A man says encantado; a woman says encantada. It does not change with the person you are meeting — only with who is talking.

It works like a quick reply on its own, or in full: Encantado de conocerte (“delighted to meet you”). The clip pairs it with the gender-neutral options mucho gusto and un placer, which any speaker can use.
