What does “deprisa” mean in Spanish?

Deprisa means “quickly” or “in a hurry”. It is one word and never changes its form, so you can drop it next to almost any verb. To say “faster”, you do not change the word; you put más in front of it: más deprisa. It is very common in everyday Spain, especially when someone is rushing you: ¡Deprisa! means “Hurry up!”

In the clip the teacher counts to ten slowly, then says más deprisa (faster) and repeats the numbers at speed. You will also hear de prisa written as two words, but the single word deprisa is the standard modern spelling.
