Niño se cae aprendiendo a andar en bicicleta

What does “uno” mean in “cuando uno aprende”?
Spanish often uses uno to mean people in general — the “you” that means “anyone.” Cuando uno está aprendiendo, siempre hay accidentes means “when you’re learning, there are always accidents,” about everyone, not one named person. English does this with “you” (or the formal “one”). A woman speaking about herself this way can say una instead. It’s a soft, relatable way to state a life-truth.
In the clip a parent comforts a child who fell off a bike: cuando uno está aprendiendo a usar la bicicleta, siempre hay accidentes — “when you’re learning to ride a bike, there are always accidents.” It gently says this happens to everyone. Compare uno nunca sabe (“you never know”) and uno se acostumbra (“you get used to it”). The verb stays in the él / ella form: uno piensa, uno hace.
