What does “frasco” mean in Spanish?

When you shop in Spanish, the container has its own word, and un frasco is the small glass jar with a lid, like for jam or honey. The clip is a fill-in-the-blank quiz: esto es un ___ de mermelada (“this is a ___ of marmalade”) — and the answer is un frasco. It is not the same as una botella (a bottle) or una lata (a can). Knowing the container word helps you read labels and ask for the right thing at the store.

The clip is a whole container set: una lata (a can, of soup), una caja (a box, of cereal), un paquete (a packet, of cookies), una bolsa (a bag), una botella (a bottle), and una barra (a bar, of chocolate). Notice each food picks its own container word.
