What does “miedo escénico” mean in Spanish?
Walking and filming on the street, she admits she feels shy and wonders why recording in public scares her. Then she says it plainly: she really wants to get over her “miedo escénico.” That is the fear of performing or being watched — the same thing that holds her back from singing or doing stand-up. Saying it out loud seems to be her way of pushing past it.
She says: “realmente quiero superar el miedo escénico” — “I really want to get over my stage fright.” It is the nervous fear you feel when people watch you perform. - “Tengo miedo escénico antes de hablar en público.” — “I get stage fright before speaking in public.” - “El cantante sufre de miedo escénico.” — “The singer suffers from stage fright.” - “Con práctica, superé el miedo escénico.” — “With practice, I got over my stage fright.” “Escénico” comes from “escena” (stage/scene), so the phrase points at the fear of being on stage or on view. It often pairs with “superar” (to get over) or “vencer” (to beat).
