The Dutch musical-theater star whose career has anchored stage and TV since the 1980s
Simone Kleinsma is one of the few Dutch performers who can be described, accurately, as a national treasure. She came up through musical theater in the 1980s (Annie, Foxtrot, Mamma Mia) and built a parallel career in TV (Hare Majesteit, Toren C, kids' voice work) without ever quite leaving the stage. Her duets with husband Guus Verstraete are Dutch musical-theater canon. Cabaret-and-walsje moments on Omroep MAX specials draw the older audience that grew up watching her.
