Who are the Dutch “Oranje Leeuwinnen”?

The Oranje Leeuwinnen (“Orange Lionesses”) are the Netherlands' women’s national football team, currently among the most successful in European football. They won the UEFA Women’s Euro 2017 on home soil and reached the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup final, losing to the United States. The team is governed by the KNVB and has produced internationally-recognised stars including Vivianne Miedema, Daniëlle van de Donk, and Sherida Spitse. Dutch women’s football attendance and commercial deals have grown sharply since 2017, with weekly Eredivisie Vrouwen matches now broadcast on national networks.
