What is a major Dutch “kunstbeurs”?

A kunstbeurs is a Dutch art fair, and the country runs two of Europe’s most-watched ones: TEFAF Maastricht (March, the world’s leading classical-art fair, where museums and billionaire collectors compete) and Art Rotterdam (February, the contemporary-art counterpoint, with younger galleries and emerging artists). Smaller fairs like PAN Amsterdam and Affordable Art Fair Amsterdam round out the calendar. Dutch kunstbeurzen are commercial events: galleries pay booth fees, dealers and collectors negotiate prices in private sale rooms, and the sales-week numbers shape the European art market for the rest of the year.
