What does “vloeiend” mean in Dutch?

When you speak a language smoothly, Dutch says you speak it vloeiend — fluently. The word comes from vloeien, “to flow,” so speaking vloeiend is literally speaking in a way that flows. English hides the same picture: “fluent” comes from Latin fluere, also “to flow.” Two languages, one image — words running smoothly like water.
