What does “piesek” mean in Polish?

Pies is a dog; piesek is “doggy” — and in Poland the -ek ending signals warmth more than size. A grown labrador is still mój piesek if you love him. Diminutives are everywhere in spoken Polish: they soften requests, sweeten food, and turn every pet into family. When the owner here says mój jedyny kochany piesek — “my one and only beloved doggy” — the ending is doing the emotional work.

Polish can stack the affection: pies → piesek → pieseczek, each step warmer. Even the dog’s name follows the pattern — he’s called Leoś, a pet form with the tender -ś ending, and the video title puts it in the dative: kupimy Leosiowi pieska, “we’ll buy Leoś a doggy.” Names, dogs, coffee (kawka), soup (zupka) — nothing in Poland escapes the diminutive.
