How do you say “the more, the more” in Italian?

To say “the more… the more…” Italian just stacks two comparatives with più: più mangio, più ho fame — “the more I eat, the hungrier I get.” No extra words, no “the” — the pattern più + clause, più + clause carries the whole correlation. The crowd-pleaser version is più siamo, meglio è, “the more of us there are, the better it is” — Italian’s answer to “the more, the merrier.”

Swap in meno and you get the mirror image: meno esco, meno mi va di uscire (“the less I go out, the less I feel like going out”). You can even mix them: più mi riposo, meno mi sento stanca — “the more I rest, the less tired I feel.” Once you spot the più… più… / meno… meno… skeleton, you can build endless natural-sounding sentences from it.
