What does “in the mood for” mean in English?

in the mood for
common English phrase
“What are you in the mood for?” means “What do you feel like having right now?”

When you are in the mood for something, you want it right now. It is a small wish for this moment. People ask “What are you in the mood for?” to learn what food or drink you want. You can answer with food: “I’m in the mood for pizza.” You can also say “I’m not in the mood” when you do not feel like doing a thing.

In the clip, a person asks for a restaurant. The other person replies, “Certainly. What are you in the mood for?” The first person says, “Maybe a salad? I’m not very hungry.” It is a normal, friendly way to ask what someone wants.
