What does “facturar el equipaje” mean in Spanish?

The verb facturar usually means “to invoice” or “to bill someone.” But at an airport it means something else: to hand your bags to the airline so they travel in the hold. So facturar el equipaje means “to check in your luggage.” This use is most common in Spain; in much of Latin America people say documentar el equipaje instead.
