What does 'خلينا نقول' mean in Gulf Arabic?
خلينا نقول (khalleena nqool) literally means let us say. Gulf Arabic speakers reach for it when picking a not-quite-right word: خلينا نقول البيس (let’s call it the base), خلينا نقول الإيشيويين (let’s say East Asians). The phrase signals the speaker is choosing a label loosely, hedging against being too precise, and asking the listener to follow them anyway.
In this clip, a Saudi makeup founder pitches her brand for Arab faces and desert climate: products built to يتحمل الحرارة (withstand heat), tones blended for Arab skin. She reaches for خلينا نقول twice: when she means foundation (البيس) and when she compares to East Asian features (العاصيويين). The hedge keeps her sounding casual, not technical.
