Se me chispotió is the Mexican way to say something escaped your mouth that you never meant to say. It’s the verbal equivalent of clapping your hand over your mouth a half-second too late — the secret’s already out. The verb chispotear barely exists outside this phrase: it became household vocabulary entirely because El Chavo del 8 said it every time he blurted a secret by accident.

The construction uses the “accidental se”: se me chispotió literally frames it as the words slipping out on you, not something you did on purpose — the same grammar as se me cayó (“it fell on me / I dropped it”).
