What is Partij voor de Dieren in Dutch politics?

Partij voor de Dieren is Dutch for Party for the Animals. Founded in 2002 by Marianne Thieme and Esther Ouwehand, it was the first single-issue animal-welfare party anywhere to win national parliamentary seats when it took two Tweede Kamer chairs in 2006. The platform now stretches into climate, biodiversity, and food policy, but the name stays focused on the animals.
