What is “Madurodam” in the Netherlands?

Madurodam is the Netherlands rebuilt at 1:25 scale. The park sits at the edge of Den Haag and packs canal houses, cheese markets, Schiphol runways, and Rotterdam’s harbour into a single walkthrough. It opened in 1952, founded by George Maduro’s parents in memory of their son, a Curaçao-born Dutch resistance fighter killed at Dachau. Every Dutch schoolkid has seen Madurodam at least once on a class trip.

In this clip, a Dutch theater performer sneaks his own poster into the Hollandse Meesters attraction, the section featuring miniature Rembrandt and Vermeer paintings. He wedges it next to Rembrandt van Rijn and announces “vanaf nu hang ik ook tussen de Hollandse meesters.”
