What does “tételt húz” mean in Hungarian?

At a Hungarian oral exam, especially the érettségi (the secondary-school leaving exam), you don’t choose your topic — you draw it. Tételt húz, literally “to pull a topic”, is the nerve-wracking moment of picking a numbered card that decides which prepared subject you must speak on. Tétel here means an exam “topic” or “item”, and húz is the everyday verb “to pull/draw”, the same one used for drawing a card or a lottery number.
