What does the slang “savazás” mean in Hungarian?
Savazás comes straight from sav (acid): to “acid” someone is to pour corrosive, sneering criticism on them. It is the Hungarian internet’s word for roasting, dragging or hating-on — sharper and more personal than plain kritika. “Savazás” is the noun; “savaz(ni)” the verb; “savazó” the person doing it. The metaphor is vivid: words that burn on contact.
The clip uses it commercially — “megkapták tőlem a jól megérdemelt savazást” (they got the roasting they deserved) and people “sorban állnak a névre szóló savazásért” (queuing for a personalized roast), turning insult into a sought-after product. Neighbours in the same acid family: beszól (to throw shade / make a cutting remark) and oltogat (to put someone down). All informal — fine among friends and online, risky in polite company.
