What does “부리나케” mean in Korean?
부리나케 (burinake) means doing something in a frantic, headlong rush. It’s often explained as a worn-down form of 불이 나게, “as if on fire” — the popular image being flint struck or a fire-drill stick spun so fast that sparks fly. Whether or not that etymology is exact, it captures the feeling: bolting 부리나케 out the door is moving fast enough to spark a flame.
The word lands at the clip’s climax: a stay-at-home mom, mid-cooking, realizes she’s late and 부리나케 뛰어 하원시키러 갔습니다 — dashes out “in a blaze” to pick her child up from daycare. The adverb glues onto motion verbs: 부리나케 달려가다 (dash off), 부리나케 나오다 (rush out). Note the standard spelling is 부리나케, not the common misspelling 불이나케.
