What does “shokr kon” mean in Persian?

Asked how he calms down after a fight, the speaker offers a reframe: what feels bad is actually a gift. «خوبه، نعمته، شکر کن» (“it’s good, it’s a blessing, give thanks”). شکر (shokr) is gratitude, and شکر کن (“give thanks”) is the everyday Persian nudge to count your blessings instead of your grievances.

You’ll hear its cousin everywhere: خدا رو شکر (“thank God”), said after good news, bad news, or a sneeze. The other trick in the clip is just as Iranian: replaying the argument alone in front of the mirror until you “win” it. But شکر is the real reset button.
