What does “рекламщик” mean in Russian?

Реклама means advertising — borrowed from French réclame. Attach -щик and you get рекламщик: the person whose job is advertising. That suffix is one of Russian’s most productive word-builders: it takes almost any field or object noun and turns it into the person who works with it. Once you spot it, dozens of occupational words become guessable on sight.

The pattern multiplies fast: барабан (drum) → барабанщик (drummer), камень (stone) → каменщик (stonemason), груз (cargo) → грузчик (loader). In the clip, when a couple named Burger and King got engaged, their local paper snapped a jokey photo in front of a Burger King — and рекламщики Бургер Кинг (the Burger King advertising team) saw it immediately and offered to sponsor their entire wedding. The word lands in a single, throwaway sentence, but it carries the whole -щик pattern with it.
