What does “baví mě” mean in Czech?

Asked how conflict feels to her, this speaker grins: «Konflikty mě baví» (“conflict is fun for me”). The verb is bavit, “to entertain, to amuse,” and the everyday construction “něco mě baví” is how Czechs say “I enjoy something.” Note the flip: the thing entertains you, not the other way round.

So “baví mě čeština” means “I enjoy Czech,” and “nebaví mě to” is the universal “I’m bored of this.” The reflexive “bavit se” means “to have fun” or “to chat.” It’s one of the first verbs that lets you say what you actually like, far more natural than líbí se for activities.
