Grizzly bears hunting salmon at the waterfall

What does “go for it” mean in English?
When you “go for it,” you stop waiting and act, even though something might go wrong. You are not sure you will succeed, but you try anyway. For example: “The exam is tomorrow and I am not fully ready, but I am just going to go for it.” The phrase works in sport, work, food, travel — almost any situation where a choice feels risky but you do it.
In this clip, hundreds of salmon are waiting at the bottom of a waterfall. Bears are standing at the top, ready to catch them. The fish cannot stay there forever. The voice in the video says: “Eventually, they have to go for it, regardless of the danger.” The word “regardless” makes the meaning even clearer — they act even though the risk is still there. You can also use this phrase to encourage someone: a friend is nervous about talking to someone new, and you say, “Just go for it!”
