What does “trato hecho” mean in Spanish?
¡Trato hecho! literally “deal done,” is how Spanish speakers shake hands on it — the equivalent of “Deal!” or “It’s a deal!” After haggling, swapping or negotiating, this two-word phrase closes the bargain. It surfaces anywhere an agreement lands, from sticker swaps to used-car sales: once trato hecho is said, the matter is settled.
A Mexican rhyme drives home its finality: “Trato hecho, jamás deshecho; cuando lo busques, ya está en el techo” — a deal made is never unmade. Note trato here means the agreement/bargain itself (related to tratar, to deal with), not “treat.” Handy cousin from the same scene: intercambiar (to swap) and repetidas (duplicate stickers you trade away).
