Beyond “to touch,” tocar is the verb of chance: me tocó means “I got (by luck/lot),” “it fell to me,” “it was my turn.” ¿Qué te tocó? asks what you drew; no me tocó nada is “I got nothing.” It works like an impersonal hit of fortune — the thing you land is the subject, you are the indirect object (me, te, le), which is why it pairs with a mí me tocó… rather than yo toqué.
