What does “was raus muss, muss raus” mean in German?

“Was raus muss, muss raus” is a shrugging, all-purpose German phrase for anything unavoidable — literally “what has to get out, has to get out.” It covers venting frustration, blurting out an opinion you’d normally hold back, or any other situation where holding something in stopped being an option. The phrase carries a note of resigned humor: whatever’s about to happen, there was never really a way to stop it.
