What does “Diggi” mean in German youth slang?

It’s a softened, diminutive spelling of Digga (also written Diggah or Digger), one of German youth slang’s most common terms of address, used constantly between friends regardless of gender.

Digga traces back to 1990s Hamburg hip-hop slang, where Dicker (“fat one,” used affectionately) got run through the local accent that turns “ck” into a “gg” sound — Dicker became Digga. Rapper Das Bo’s song “Türlich, türlich” helped spread it nationwide, and today Digga/Diggah/Diggi/Digger are near-interchangeable, casual equivalents of “dude” or “bro.”
