What does “selber Schuld” mean in German?
Selber Schuld is the two-word verdict Germans reach for when someone walks straight into their own problem. Literally “self [at] fault,” it is always a bit pointed — not a sympathetic Pech gehabt (“tough luck”) but a mild, knowing eye-roll that says the outcome was entirely foreseeable. The colloquial selber (versus the more formal selbst) is what gives it the teasing, slightly smug edge.
