What does “Trennung im Guten” mean in German?

“Im Guten” doesn’t mean the split was good — it means it happened in a kind, peaceful way, with no big fight. So “Trennung im Guten” is a breakup where both people stay respectful: they part calmly, keep in touch, and value the time they shared. Use “im Guten” whenever two people separate without anger.

“Am Ende entscheiden sie sich für eine Trennung im Guten.” — “In the end they decide on a friendly split / to part on good terms.” The phrase “im Guten” means “in a peaceful, friendly way.” It often comes up when people separate or stop something without a fight: “Wir gehen im Guten auseinander.” (We are parting on good terms.)
